When Mark + Ji Young approached me about working with them on a brand for Mark’s new endodontics practice in downtown Seattle I was really excited. This is the first time I’ve designed something for an office that is down the street from Amazon!
Strategy always comes first. I compile the notes from our preliminary conversations and style meeting into a PDF for clients to reference in the future and then add the additional brand details as the project is completed. It’s a great way to not only keep the project focused, but also create a brand guide for the future that the client can reference or hand off to contractors/assistants.
Seattle is known for overcast skies, coffee and greenery, so they requested a brand that would stand out from the typical moody/outdoors color palette and reflect innovation and thinking forward.
The line through the center of the O represents the core of the root of a tooth. Endodontics has to do with root canals in particular, so this is a nice way of conveying that symbolically without putting a tooth in a dental logo. (If I had a quarter for every dental logo I saw with a tooth…)
We wrapped up the project with some print items for Mark to use within the office that are very practice-specific to his needs.
